Carex buchananii red rooster is a striking ornamental sedge known for its upright, slender foliage in rich copper-red to reddish-brown tones. Its distinctive colour provides year-round visual interest and creates a strong contrast when planted alongside green or silver foliage. It is an excellent choice for borders, mass planting, containers, rockeries and contemporary landscaping. Carex buchananii red rooster grows well in full sun to partial shade and performs best in fertile, well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing, then maintain consistent moisture during periods of hot or dry weather. Its upright form works particularly well when planted in groups for a bold textural effect.
