Helichrysum petiolare is an attractive indigenous South African groundcover valued for its soft, silvery-grey foliage and spreading growth habit. It produces clusters of small creamy-white to pale yellow flowers, creating a subtle contrast against its silver leaves. Its trailing form makes it an excellent choice for borders, rockeries, containers, hanging baskets and water-wise landscaping. Helichrysum petiolare grows best in full sun to partial shade and performs well in well-drained soil. Once established, it is relatively drought tolerant, making it a useful choice for low-maintenance and water-wise gardens. Its silver foliage also creates beautiful contrast when planted alongside darker green or colourful plants. Looking for indigenous groundcover or silver foliage plants near me?
