Melinis nerviglumis is an attractive indigenous South African ornamental grass known for its fine, upright foliage and delicate, feathery flower heads. Its flowering plumes develop in attractive pink to reddish-purple tones, creating a soft, colourful display that adds movement and texture to the garden. It is an excellent choice for borders, mass planting, rockeries, indigenous gardens and naturalistic landscaping. Melinis nerviglumis grows best in full sun and performs well in well-drained soil. Once established, it is a hardy and relatively water-wise grass, making it well suited to low-maintenance and indigenous garden designs. Planting it in groups creates an especially effective display when the flower heads are in bloom. Looking for indigenous grasses or ornamental grasses near me?
