Phormium fire chief is a striking evergreen ornamental perennial known for its bold, upright foliage in rich crimson-red to burgundy tones, with darker margins. Its dramatic colouring and architectural form create a strong focal point in the garden, making it an excellent choice for borders, containers, rockeries and feature planting. Phormium fire chief grows well in full sun to partial shade and performs best in fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun helps intensify its vibrant foliage colour, while adding compost or other organic matter when planting encourages healthy growth. Once established, it is a hardy, relatively low-maintenance plant. Looking for red foliage plants or ornamental perennials near me?
