Phormium tenax lineata is an attractive evergreen ornamental perennial valued for its long, upright, sword-shaped foliage and distinctive striped colouring. Its architectural leaves combine green with lighter cream to yellow-green striping, creating an eye-catching feature in garden beds. Its strong form makes it an excellent choice for borders, containers, feature planting and contemporary landscaping. Phormium tenax lineata grows well in full sun to partial shade and performs best in fertile, well-drained soil. A sunny position helps maintain strong foliage colour, while adding compost or other organic matter when planting encourages healthy establishment and growth. Its evergreen foliage provides year-round structure and texture. Looking for colourful foliage plants or ornamental perennials near me?
