Dietes grandiflora is a striking indigenous South African perennial commonly known as the large wild iris or fairy iris. It forms impressive clumps of dark green, sword-shaped foliage and produces large white flowers marked with yellow and violet, creating a beautiful display in the garden. Dietes grandiflora grows well in full sun to partial shade and performs best in fertile, well-drained soil. It is a hardy, relatively drought-tolerant plant once established and is particularly effective in borders, mass planting, indigenous gardens, water-wise landscapes and larger landscaping projects.
